The world-class Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan returns to HELLERAU.
During the first part of the dual-act evening White Water / Dust, the company will celebrate eternal life. On the stage, movement, freezes and moments of quiet unfold: lyrical dance in pure, wonderfully fluent movements. The second, contrasting section is conceived as a requiem. In Dust, set to the music of Dmitri Shostakovich, Lin Hwai-min expresses his disappointment at the political suppression, massacres, genocides and devastation of the 21st century. Shostakovich's famous String Quartet No. 8 reflects the immense sadness that immediately moved Lin Hwai-min the first time he heard the music.
