Refugee Art Center Day

The Refugee Art Center project brings together all the activities at HELLERAU – European Centre for the Arts, Dresden which are for and by refugees. Alongside the intercultural gardening project Golgi Park – Intercultural Garden Hellerau, which has gone on for the last three years, various art projects take place which are run either for refugees and international Dresden residents or by artists who have a background of seeking refuge. We have succeeded in recruiting two new associates from Syria for networking and consulting.

At the RAC Day, we plan to network with other parties in the city, present our own projects to an audience for the first time and invite potential new partners to present their project ideas.

Wihad Suleiman (b. 1988), a director and author from Damascus who now acts at the Theater an der Ruhr in Mülheim, will share her varied range of experience from theatre work with refugees in a free workshop for professionals and amateurs.

In addition, we would like to use the day to celebrate together, to get to know one other and exchange ideas.
