Maguy Marin, the grande dame of contemporary dance and winner of the Golden Lion in Dance at the 2016 Venice Biennale, is considered one of the most original choreographers around. She has created some 50 pieces, many of which now form part of the classical dance repertoire. Her breakthrough came in the form of her 1981 choreography May B, today a classic, and now being presented in a new production in HELLERAU. In this dance piece, Maguy Marin sets out the full absurdity of human life in ten figures who get up to mischief on the stage. A humorous dance piece full of tenderness and muddle, inspired by a Beckettsian universe and just as subversive as it was more than 30 years ago.
