Matthias Bröde

The mouth organ – or “Mundi”, as it is affectionately known in Saxony – is widely known as a feature of campfires and the Blues, and at best as an atmospheric accompaniment to chansons. Then along comes Matthias Broede and shows that it can do more. Broede lifts his instrument to the status of a soloist, does not let even challenging jazz and World Music compositions put him off, even adds new elements, making him a deserving recipient of the WDR Jazz Award.
