Title of the new production “Preto” (Black)

From 27 May to 11 June 2017 the Brazilian director and dramaturge Marcio Abreu together with his Companhia Brasileira de Teatro will be again in residency at HELLERAU to work on his new piece “Preto”. A theatrical work that researches on racism and denial of differences from a Brazilian experience and in perspective with the world - an experience that aims to expand through art the perceptions about the other and about the living spaces and formation of sensitivities.

Especially in the context of ongoing protests and demonstrations in the streets of Brazil the work of the Companhia Brasileira de Teatro reveals core political questions and global educational work related to the socio-political and ethno-cultural history of Brazil from the past up to the present day.

There will be a public showing on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, 6pm at the Nancy-Spero-Room

PRODUCTION
“Preto” is a new co-production from HELLERAU – European Center for the Arts Dresden together with Mousonturm Frankfurt.

PREMIERE
First it will premiere in HELLERAU January, 26 and January, 27, 2018.

COMPANHIA BRASILIERA DE TEATRO
The companhia brasileira de teatro (Brazilian Theater Company) is a collective compounded by artists from various regions of the country. It was founded by the dramaturge and director Marcio Abreu in 2000, in Curitiba. Its researches focuses mainly on new forms of writing and on contemporary creation.
